I’ve just updated an archive and had a message flashing up, lower left, that I’ve never seen before, “File Full. Now unloading”
What is this?
How large are your segments? Did the size change since you first created the archive?
This is perfectly normal. I believe that segments are zipped up. Once a segment has been filled it ‘unloads’ and then moves on to the next segment.
As Tim says, maybe you have got smaller segments than before and it is happening more often. Or maybe you just aren’t watching that lower left corner of your screen when archiving
I did once experiment to see if smaller or larger segments were more beneficial. Smaller fill quicker but unload quicker. Larger files will take a longer time to fill but then also take longer to unload. I decided that it didn’t make a huge amount of difference and I settled on 10Gb.
Probably the latter, just not noticed it before, but I’ll check on segment size on Monday.
Im going to have to slightly disagree on this one that its totally normal… I had this issue occure years ago and it made archiving take like 6 times longer than it should.
Its normal to fill whatever size seg you have then move one , the problem is when it hangs for like 4 mins or longer each time…
We looked into it and I think it was a combination of File system type and permissions.
We worked this out because it seemed to be linked to specific projects but not all.
And different projects had been created in slightly different ways.
I think i may have even posted about it years ago?
