Audio Viz Matchbox

Ivar, may he rest in peace, ..was working on this WIP: Audio Visualization - Matchbox Shader for Autodesk Flame / Flare / Smoke, .

…not sure if a setup ended up anywhere with logik? found some code on facebook logik, but not sure about it,.

Would love to have access to this or something similar? anyone, thanks.

TLDR - Ivar did not create this shader for use in Flame, because Matchbox shaders don’t have an audio input. It is possible to create audio visualizations in Flame though, check this out:

For the nerds:
A programming mystery, how exciting!!
Checking through the old Logik group on Facebook, I found Ivar’s post along with a picture of the source code he said he used:

I noticed that none of the Flame-specific glsl constants are in this code. I also saw a parameter called ‘spectrum’ that I don’t think exists in Flame’s Matchbox.
Looking further at Ivar’s Facebook post, there’s a short convo between Ivar and Mark Doney (which made me kinda sad, RIP):

So Ivar mentions an IDE called KodeLife, which is possibly how he created this demo. Indeed, the manual for KodeLife references a ‘spectrum’ parameter:

So, my findings are that he created this shader in a different environment that can’t easily be ported to Flame. Perhaps I’ll take a closer look at Flame’s audio mapping and see if some sort of Frankensteining is possible.

Hi Ted, thanks for your time on this, I came across the same, when I was researching,..there is also another thread if you search “How do all. Did I imagine it or is there an audio visualisation shader? Ta”

And in it I found this link surprisingly still live:

posted by flamemarkshaders. Its a version of the matchbox Ivar put together with an update with scale…

I had a little play with it linking high/mids/bass to xyz ,.. not quite what was looking for.

my aim was to audio visualise a voice/speech, .. passed it on to AE to take care of it in the end.

I did forget that there was free spark in flames older installation, I have a 2021 version, but cant remember where to find it…? ..just for fun
