I seem to recall, many, many versions ago, pre timeline, so probably the old play reel, you could step through audio frame by frame and hear it, it would be really useful if AD could bring that back, (unless I’m doing something wrong and it still works!)

Thanks Phil, but what about in the timeline?

Turn on Scrub Audio in the timeline Options menu (down at the bottom next to V+)
CTRL+SHIFT+drag playhead (a bit sticky)
CTRL+SHIFT+C or V (back or forward one frame)

(Not sure if these are only Smoke Hotkeys though)
