Basic Things Flame Should Really Have But Does Not

-Nuke style Match Grade. Would use it every week. Should have option to invert.
-Automatic overscan that can travel up and down the tree - so that if I have an Action and tracer feeding same comp node, they overscan to match.
-Context stays aligned with overscan
-ML Timewarp as option from Batch timewarp.
-DNG debayer
-Full support for all Divisions and shaping of bicubics.
-Ability to copy one frame of UV to Vertices instead of whole animation. (should be simple!)
-Make trackers work in linear (Please!!!)

Hey Sam. Have you tried the AFX Reverse Grade Matchbox? It works very well, IMHO.

I’ll have a look.

Match Grade in Nuke looks at the whole image and creates a 3D LUT that makes them match. Not just black and white point.

Can I add a 3d shape tool that can actually draw in 3d space I can’t tell you how many times I just wanted to draw a U to project on and how much a pain that is , think of a stadium and just to make that basic shape that would need to project on. The amount of steps I have to do to accomplish this is unforgivable imho.

If you add the 3D shape under a correctly oriented surface, it will be inherit the perspective. Seems to work well. I’m probably missing something.

its not about orientation so much as starting a gmask that I can start at 0 Z space and go back in Z and then go forward in Z, masks can’t do that unless you add a deform mesh which is not as smooth as I would like.

But you can do that with the 3d Shape…pick the start / centre / end as the origin from which the extrusion starts.
I can’t remember the exact button but it’s definitely there.

You mean like a bicubic can, yeah? Where each vertex on the gmask can be on a different z-depth.

Howdy friends. This thread has been EPIC. I’m gonna host a sesh on Discord this Saturday, March 5 @ 2pm ET. I’m calling it a “BYOB Flame Wishlist Chat”. Would be great if you all could join. @Jeff is going to host with me and it’ll be a great chat - as close to an in-person throw down as we can get! Who’s in?

you can’t have an open gmask spline and adjust each point in Z separately and moreover you can’t even do a 3d shape from a spine that’s open.

I’m pretty sure I’ve done 3d shape with an open spline . . .

Yep it’s a real shame.

Try using an open spline but dial in 1 pixel of softness. I haven’t used it for this specifically, but there’s an add softness button that seems to give thickness to stuff in 3dshape. It defaults to 100, so drop that and it might work

The ability to have media attached to particles/sprites and with a random slip on each particle, and loopable.

nifty shapes, and I stand corrected about doing shapes with unclosed splines as long as they have softness, but my original point still stands that I want to draw a gmasks in z space and build shapes from that as it stands the shapes that can be drawn are fairly simple and basic and making anything more complex takes a stilly amount of time when it should be minutes. I gave the example of a stadium where I always just wanted that U shape where the bottom is closer than the top to make this shape one would think would be fairly simple but it takes much longer than it should, and no the new camera analysis shape maker is like hiring a drunk 3d person to make you shapes and doesn’t count. If I could just draw a gmask and push the top part back in Z I could make that shape in under 1 min as it stands you can’t push those points in Z.

Sorry I keep editing it but in my mind imagine having 3 up view with top, side and front and being able to draw a gmask no matter where you clicked in each viewport you could make a point thus creating some amazing shapes.

which then brings up another good point a deform mesh that is more flexible than a squared grid.

I agree. That little ditty took me a half hour. I should have been a couple of minutes.

i’m probably misinterpreting your Stadium analogy…

is this what you are wanting?

3dShape - a single open spline, 1 pixel softness, width at top and bottom of extrusion adjusted using Scale graph (parametric bevel dropdown), 1 projector applying texture.

if this is not what you mean, my apologies for time wasting!
