It feels very pc or Linux. Which I hate!! Anyhow what’s the wrapper thing.

hi Jon,
click the grey bars next to your avatar on the top right of menu bar…at the bottom of the dropdown is a list of different looks you can pick from

If you watch from here it’s all about how to use this place: Logik Live Session 025 ML with Andy and the New Forum with Randy! - YouTube

How to follow categories in your prefs:
Logik Live Session 025 ML with Andy and the New Forum with Randy! - YouTube (*including making it like the old Flame News and just have it email you everything)

THEMES (make it looks like Facebook):

There is powerful searching, bookmarks, etc. Try going through Randy’s video again and see if it doesn’t improve your experience

I’m hoping for a theme that makes it look like it was drawn by Bill Watterson or Gary Trudeau.

I’ve tried all the modes. Still don’t like it. I just think in this day and age Facebook is a better option. Keep the youngsters interested.

I love the irony that you’re the one who started the Facebook is Dead thread (although there is ambiguity in the originary post) and also simultaneously the one who wants to go back in .

Personally (though I’m not a youngster) I was never on Facebook and was a holdout who held-on to not joining it and saw the issues (I’m an early non-adopter, as it were) with monetisation. I’ll never throw myself into Facebook (FaceF*ck) or the Metaverse that seeks to grab and fold everything, every everyday comportment into itself, and everything is still not enough! Its transhumanist overtones (Kurzweil has a lot to answer for) make me want to vomit. Strong feelings. I’m just off to get my silver foil hat…

Cheers
Tony

haha - yes I started it, I just find this whole discord thing totally geeky and not as user friendly! but hey - that’s where everyone is so that’s where I want to be. ill just put up with it.

I have the occasional browse in Discord but really don’t like the format, whereas the Forum is great. I love how each topic is separate, you can easily search for stuff and bookmark topics you find useful to build up your own library of stuff you might want to return to. Its easy to filter the new topics, or catch up on older ones that have been added to since your last visit. Facebook doesn’t do any of that.

The long continuous, garbled stream of confusion that is discord is more annoying than helpful. Its like sitting in a noisy pub with different groups shouting for attention whilst your tinnitus filters out all the relevant bits!

My own 2p worth.

That’s the idea. Sometimes you want a library, sometimes you want a pub. They serve different purposes.

And when you want a rave you go to Logik.Tiktok. That’s in development, right?

Hhahaha @Lightningad I figured as much!

This forum, which runs on a professionally managed Discourse instance, is not designed to replace Facebook. Facebook exists to steal your eyeballs and serve you ad impressions. This forum is designed to be a place for searchable, meaningful and hopefully, timeless discussion that could be helpful for other people. It’s like a library. Anybody can write anything, anybody can stumble upon anything, anybody can use the public information for their own purposes.

Our Discord server is a place for casual chat and disposable banter that just doesn’t need to be saved or searched. Memes and banter and chit chat. Some would argue that the Discord is far more important to them than the Forums. It’s another element of community building and offers real time voice and video and screen sharing for free. Plus it connects the Hiveminders in private places and gives them a suitable place to share more tender shares.

Our Logik Academy is designed for more in-depth tool-based videos and techniques.

Our Logik Hivemind is designed for one on one private and personal experiences.

Our Logik Lives are designed for communal watching exposing our community to new people and techniques that perhaps they’d never have stumbled upon.

Our Logik Podcasts are designed for listening versions.

So quite intentionally we’ve created a variety of modes of learning and self help, from the free to the paid and from the passive the active.

If you feel that this place isn’t Facebook, then fantastic! We’re succeeding!
