I am probably one of the few people doing true editorial in Flame, but does anyone know of any device that Flame supports that has a jog wheel? I just spent 7.5 hours scrubbing footage with my stylus and my hand is about to fall off. This is a regular thing for me. I know folks have discussed the Resolve speed editor on this forum before but it is my understanding that it will never be supported for Flame so I am looking for anything that could help me…
The Tangent MF Panel has one single and works with flame; think you should be able to configure it to scrubbing within sequence view.
But it’s more like a wheel as you have no hole for the finger.
@krystenr - you used to be able to use the touch wheel on the wacom for scrubbing, but i haven’t used anything but default hot keys for years and i usually turn off tablet functions.
I have boxes full of tangent equipment,
LInux or Mac?
In the past (for other apps) I’ve sometimes used Shuttle Pro 2. It’s a nice editorial device with buttons and a proper jog / shuttle wheel. In the software you can program it to whatever keyboard short cuts do the functions. Comes with many presets, but probably not Flame.
Does require software, does work on Mac, may be marginal on Linux.
Other option - on the Tangent side, which does work on Linux, instead of the Elemnts, go for the Wave 2. It has a transport dial (much smaller) which a finger indent. I used to have one, and like the Elements better. But I also use it for color, not just editorial.
This is it! Thank you!
@allklier - that reminded me - i had one of those devices in a box - shuttleExpress - i just plugged it in and the scroll wheel zooms a picture but no jog / shuttle by default.
I’m sure that I could make it work.
Oh and I totallly spaced out - @Josh_Laurence hooked me up with this ‘too shiny to use’ keyboard that has jog/shuttle built in to the keyboard - it’s totally lovely, but too fancy to use.
It’s fully programmable. This is the software that comes with… (but only Win/Mac).
Possible that there are hacks to make this work on Linux too.
What’s nice is that the inner wheel is infinite scroll, while the outer ring is spring loaded for left/right with up to 4 speeds.
good @ALan made a video a while back… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45iCxK-riBY
Amazing. Unfortunately the product is no longer available on Amazon it seems.
It is! I literally just bought it and set it up an hour ago.

I found it and set mine up earlier today! I wish I could assign hot keys to have it jog in 50 frame, or more, increments, but I’ll take what I can get!
If you ever want to sell that bad boy, I’ve still got a ps2 port.
@feganflamer - I’m doing stuff for free these days - i used to try and sell stuff
I’ve been using a DOIO for a few months and now I can’t live without it. Especially for paint and roto tasks:
I added an indented knob which makes ALL the difference:
what keyboard is this ?
It’s in a box that says keychron - but you really ought to ask the master @Josh_Laurence
