Just came accross this and wanted to share
I like the “this will only take a few minutes, or hours”. But this looks awesome. Thanks for posting!
It only runs on Windows….
and takes 8 hours on a 44 second shot
COLMAP has Linux binaries and appears to be available via Homebrew for installation on macOS:

Sounds good looking promising,
We would agree though that all of that will be more useful if there is an automatic stmap calculation and export . And yes , some clients provide lens grids , others do not .
Is there an option to have that exported? or how would you tackle that with this method.
To my knowledge Meshroom can do that through py script in Fusion and Reality Capture can export the STMaps but you have to find a workaround to export the camera path ( blender with a py script for blender from the blender artists )
I haven’t used Colmap , just interested in the workflow. {also a decimated model would be great}

“you will, most likely”. Great get out clause there.
The camera orientation is complete garbage. For simple things it’s probably fine but not for real production. I’d be curious to see how long it would take those same shots to be done in syntheyes or something similar.
that kind of shots not too much.
This is really cool, but I wonder what would happen if a bunch of actors were in the scene…
