How Are We Feeling About All the Matchboxes Being Visible as Batch Nodes in 2026?

You can toggle the FX nodes button on the bottom left if dont want to see the bubble bin… but the node bin is only a piece of that bottom panel, its not like you are gaining any screen space. You can ctrl + swipe the bottom of screen to hide the panel if you want.

There’s been lots of debate on that on various calls with the ADSK folks.

the original intent was to take a few central matchboxes, which are technically matchboxes, but not in the way we think generally. Leading the list was Mastergrade, which is a core Flame node and which was absent from the main bin, and hard to find for newcomers.

Two things that have to be considered before reverting to the old days: many now use F12 which is arguably a more modern and more effective user interface for adding nodes.

Sencondly, maybe this is an opportunity to make your custom bin with just the nodes you care about. The user bin has been improved alongside this change. That way you have a curated list of your favorite bubbles you way.

Somewhere there is a feature request by me asking for matchboxes to be surfaced. Now that I’ve gotten a version of what I wanted, I don’t like it very much. Hence seeing how others feel.

I was mostly thinking Mastergrade and A2 Beauty should get promoted. Not so sure “bleach bypass” needs a spotlight. haha.

But yeah, I suppose there’s a niche audience of those of us who still like the bubble icon row for adding nodes.

I still like the bubble bin, but really do not like the massively increased clutter of having all the matchboxes alongside regular nodes.
