Insert a slate at the beginning of a clip

For years i’ve been manually adding slates to fronts of all my plates and I decided this morning to roll up my sleeves and have a look at Claude. I know nothing of coding and I feel I’m standing on the shoulders of giants amongst you all but I cant help feeling I may have struck on something useful.

In my Flame 2027 project I have made a folder in my library called ‘Generic Slate Clip’ and in there I’ve put my slate called ‘Generic Slate’.

Now I can right clip on however many clips I want in my library and run my script. ‘Insert generic slate at 1st frame’ To my amazement it has successfully inserted a slate (that incidentally also looks at the meta data of the clip for its name and duration). For me to be able to stick a slate on 50 plates at the press of a button is a winner.

insert_generic_slate_media_panel.py (6.6 KB)

I’ll attach the .py file on this message. Please don’t ask me to do anything more fancy as it’s a god given miracle I got this far. It doesn’t work on multilayered clips sadly so it needs to be done 1st.

I’m using 2027 and I’d love to know if this is of any use to others.
