Just checking, is logik-matchbook down for anyone else?
Works for me at the moment, though folks commented on the Discord in recent days about having issues.
I suggest to use the Logik Portal instead. It has a cached copy of all matchboxes and automatically updates that cache every night (if successful).
Via portal you can add individual MX or download the whole set onto your local machine.
Only time you have to use logik matchbook is if upload new or updated MX.
Not working for me for like 8 days…
It is now working for me
Logik- matchbook.org is owned and fully operated by @julik
I noticed it was down a couple of three days ago - still down now. Checked on two os-x versions. https://logik-matchbook.org/ - nobody’s home.
While I understand that it is frustrating - I find the tone of this message incredibly vexing. Thank you for your understanding.
As a backup you can always get them on the Logik Portal.
I’m also slowly working on having everything the Portal mirrored on Github. Hopefully that will make things easier for people who can’t upload or download to the Portal due to firewall issues. At the moment I only have Matchboxes up on Github which can be found here: GitHub - logik-portal/matchbox: Logik Matchbox Collection

@randy thank you for tagging me Gang, I don’t think it is very nice on your part to say things like “nobody home”, “the site is down” etc. The disk got full, ferfssakes - never had that happen to your framestore?
I am planning to move it to a new server but it takes time, because I have a dayjob - like many of you, and some stuff in-between.
Please, do have the civility (yes, I am addressing you @FLYfx here!) not to behave so entitled, but send me one of…
- An email (my email hasn’t changed since never).
- A DM here
- A message (Andy has my phone number as well)

That is not one of the Discord servers I frequent nor the one I have ever been invited to.
Not working for me for like 8 days…
Or maybe for a month, but I should have just “known” about it by virtue of keeping it up in the same way I have to maintain a tenfold of other applications, and regularly updating it, and making sure the uptime monitoring provider didn’t enshittify into some private equity holding - and does not demand $ per month, and so on.
Yes, the maintenantance on logik-matchbook was not optimal. But it does not make me neiter inspired to bring it up to snuff nor to actually help when reading threads like this. I am a person, and I provide community service because I feel like it. I’m OK occasionally doing an rm -rf
at 3AM but I sure as hell don’t want to be guilt-tripped into it nor do I want this sort of commentary.
There is somebody “home” @FLYfx , I assure you. Please show some gratitude and respect.
If anything, the 19GB of caches I had to zap from the machine are a testament to the fact that some people did find the service useful.
Rant over, now back to doing good stuff.
I can totally appreciate the frustration when people expect volunteer provided free resources to work as well as what Autodesk should make available.
The Discord in question is the Logik Discord server, the sibling to this forum. Here’s the invite if you need it: Logik
I am truly gifted at making friends wherever I go. Please accept my apologies for my ignorance and poor choice of phrase - I had no idea there was an actual person behind the site - makes sense now that you mention it. I have a new appreciation for what you are doing and I am humbled by your work. I look forward to seeing it fly again soon. Thanks for all you do. Please accept my apologies for being such a dick. I will try to suck less going forward. Thanks again.
Apologies if the words I chose upset you @julik
There was no criticism of anyone behind it, I was just trying to work out if it was something at my end preventing my access to the site or if it was the same for everyone. I know there are many Flame supporting folks here in Logik, you are all awesome, and I would never intentially criticise the amazing work people are doing simply for the love of Flame.
@FLYfx accepted and thank you, case settled
Everything is working again, I will work on migrating to a newer/faster/bigger server. There is, in fact, a server already running with a deployment, I just need to finalize some software updates.
I am also going to nominate a community member (expect an announcement soon!) who will be co-piloting logik-matchbook so that this stuff doesn’t happen.
I am curious about how the error looked like, @AdamArcher and the rest - what did you see? Because when I tried accessing the site I saw an error page which did tell me that.. the disk was full. But because the site gets served through a CDN (this is how it is usually very fast, also in US/AU) it might have been a different error page for some people?
@MikeV I have mixed feelings about this “unofficial mirror” because it does not keep the semantics of the shader DB of logik-matchbook, all shaders are versioned there. And there is an API (it’s not “official official” but if you look at the HTML source you will find it) that could have been hooked up into the logik scripts quite a while ago, but there was no movement on that front either?.. I mean, I do understand that we all like “doing our thing” “our own way” and getting vanity points for it, but with such a tiny community we could probably make this a better collab. For example, we could set up an official logik-matchbook mirror someplace with the latest shader collection always available.
The idea was that you would develop shaders on Github and then actually notify logik-matchbook of version updates. It then goes to GH on its own, clones your repo and does the updates automatically. The reverse workflow is a bit odd.
So, as they say - “you do you” but maybe these two entities (logik-matchbook and logik-portal) should be better integrated.
Yes, it would be nice if this all was well integrated, between Logik at the top, and then Logik Portal and Logik Matchbook. Not easy when each is a separate volunteer effort and resource availability is unpredictable due to day jobs we all have.
In an ideal world all Matchbook developers would actually use GitHub as the master repository for their effort and versioning happens on GitHub, which can then pulled from for portal and other efforts. Rather than treating GitHub as a mirror of external efforts.
It would also make it easier to maintain ReadMe and instructions for various shaders.
But not everyone writing shaders has a dev background and would want to deal with GitHub.
That is why I implemented both drop-upload and GH integration with webhooks. But it seems almost like the only person using the GH integration was Ivar…
Sliding jobs around willy-nilly and pulling everything up to 100 and then back to 0 is my ReadMe
Love you Julik. Mucho macho respect for how much you’ve done for us by hosting this site.

Had a small regrain crisis today. My OFX regrain started crashing the machine. I needed to replace dozens of connected gap fx with something simple and fast. My solution was to go to the matchbox site and download Ivar’s fast regrain. Saved my ass. Miss you Ivar. Thank you @julik for keeping the site going.
Doing a CDN switchover now, so some unavailability to be expected.
