You have to do your research for sure, there are good and bad ones. And it’s unrealistic to run Flame renders for hours on battery. But the battery can be useful built-in UPS on location Some are known to run hot, others do better. It’s all about how they design the cooling, and how slim they want it to be vs. how practical they want it to be.
That one is in my list. I’ve used so far one of those (2023 version), pretty similar, and they are very very estimable. For 2024 models, several brands (asus, hp omen, dell-alienware…) are incorporating advanced optimus , which needs to have a totally separate pipe for igpu and dgpu (mux swtich). From what I am seeing , besides the typical center-app for windows, they are incorporating the option to enable/disable in bios, although it is always difficult to determine if exactly a model has that option.
btw, when I said “gaming card” , I was being sarcastic

Interesting. what’s cpu model? AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS? I’m testing on a laptop with such cpu, and rocky 8.7 does not boot (a sort of kernel panic). Only Rocky 9.3.
