Lookign to rent a badass linux flame

Looking for options to just rent 1 as in a single big boy linux flame.

We have a project here thats murdering our macs, and its running on the last 2024 release. my linux flame runs on rocky 9.3 so its not compatible… and its in use anyhow

looking to rent it for 1 month, needs to be at least a P620 or equivaltent baller machine with a rtx6000 and at least 128Gb of ram, no large framestore needed, we will install lucid and saphire ofx (we bring the saphire lic)

Needs to be setup with teradici/niceDCV so that we can login. should be connected to fibre

will supply our flame license.

Europe would be great for latency , i dont think i want to go down the path of dialing into the US

Looking to possibly rent from a post facility that are willing to rent it out or from a freelancer.

let me know.

Flame runs on RL9.3

2024 also?

When I tried to just install burn 2024 i got a “sorry this only runs on rocky 8”

I think it’s the other way around. Newer releases work on older OS (2025 runs on 8.7), but I don’t think older app releases get re-qualified on new major OSreleases.

9.3 only appeared with 2025.

Time to upgrade to a modern version of Flame.

sadly this is a client project they require this particular version for their pipeline or whatever . I might just have to tho and force them to take the bullet

Talk to @tombox - he might have a more adaptable way of doing this.

Curious… I’ve noticed when my Linux Flame (rtx a5000) starts crawling as vram fills (8K fun…) … my MacStudio keeps going as it uses all ram as vram… what’s killing your Macs? ML stuf?

thats very true thr massive amount of vram is cool on the macs.

its just a comp that is super ram/cpu heavy. its not able to be precomped really as its like 12? different bottles beign re-arranged in a crazy packshots with many layers, retimes,…

Like nothing super special it just renders a 250f shot in like 1 hour.

Usually I would just … use nuke and a renderfarm to crunch yhese murderous comps

How many flames do you manage @ALan ?

~11 workstations and ~15 render nodes

Running any pipeline on top of them? I’ve found you often need to wait for software to catch up before just upgrading flame.

some minimal in-house stuff and then Zero Config ShotGun.
