Multiple GPUs on rocky linux not working for display

Hi there!

I’m having issues with GPUs on my Linux install.
I’d love some help if anyone has experience with X server, NVIDIA settings, etc.

I have a Quadro M4000 and an RTX 3070, with two displays plugged into each. Running on Rocky Linux 8.

Only the displays on the RTX are working, and the ones on the Quadro are weirdly behaving. I can sometimes have my cursor show up on them (as a cross), but no windows or any OS GUI elements. I fiddled around with the xorg.conf, trying to enable MultiGPU, Mosaic, and Xinerama, but it broke the entire GUI. I managed to revert the config in rescue mode.

For now, I can’t find a way for those screens to work as they do in Windows.

Thanks in advance :slightly_smiling_face:

The M4000 is not supported anymore.

Thanks for the answer,
But i’m sticking with flame 2023 which is the latest to still support the M series, so the adsk rocky linux and DKU I installed are supposedly compatible with the quadro

@eytane - YMMV

One of my ancient z820 workstations is still using M6000 24GB - I’m doing some flame research and experimentation with it right now, while I type this.

However, I am NOT:

  • dual booting with Windows
  • running more than one GPU (Background reactor on Linux was never my preferred workflow)
  • running heterogeneous GPUs from one driver
  • running multiple displays from each GPU

This is a vanilla installation of everything, as prescribed in the official software releases, albeit several years out of date, and everything exceeds my expectations of usefulness.

Okayy,
Thanks for your insights!
I will try to find a workaround, I’ll post it here if I find anything.

Cheers
