ShotGrid Desktop Security on Flame

Hey everyone,

I’ve been exploring setting up shotgrid for my team of flame artists and wanted to ask a couple of questions about security. The majority of our work is on episodic projects that need to comply with TPN/MPA guidelines so we keep our flames offline.

I would love to be able to use the Desktop app to publish straight from flame but our engineers seem to think allowing all those AWS FQNDs would basically open us up to more of the public internet than our security guidelines would allow on a production machine. I am not very tech savvy when it comes to networking but it seems like there must be a way to use the toolset in a TPN-compliant way. If anyone has any experience using shotgrid desktop on otherwise-offline flames I would love to know more about how that works.

Your engineers don’t know how to properly setup the firewall.

Hmm. I’d challenge them a bit. If memory serves me right, the TPN places I’ve worked have used the Desktop app.

A firewall setup with whitelisted access to the internet is totally fine under TPN/MPAA guidelines.
