Did you have a GeForce card? I remember it editing output on those would insta-crash to desktop for a while.
In the Regrain node, to copy the grain from a different plate you have to change an unlabeled dropdown from ‘5245’ to ‘Custom.’ Then, for no discernible reason and without any hint from the interface, you must hold down Control while you box-select a region of the plate.
When I was first learning Flame this struck me as the most inscrutable series of steps - how on earth would you know unless someone told you? There is nothing in the manual about holding down Control:
Anyway, I think that experience is representative of what learning Flame is like. Good luck!

I mean… what would you hold down? Shift? That’d be so weird… were idiosyncratic not insane.
I feel your pain. I remember it took me ages to follow a tutorial on how to use DVE. And then when I jumped into flame having to add a bicubic layer in action took about 15 swipes into hidden menus. The funny thing is, after going through all this boot camp, after a while, in very stressful client attend sessions, one just feels how it all fits together and it’s possible to intuit.
Yup a titan card. It was the shit back when it came out.
