This Sunday on Logik Live: Let's Geek Out about Hardware!

ep_160_thumbnail_v02

:fire: One of the most popular topics on the Logik Forum are discussions about hardware. Should I go Linux or Mac for Flame? What are some storage options? What about networking and monitoring? While there’s no one correct answer to this question, showing different configs and how they are used can be very informative…so let’s do it!This Sunday on Logik Live, Jeff and I are going to talk hardware. I’m going to start off with a guided tour of my home studio, which is built around 2 Dell Workstations and monitors, 2 Synology NAS units, two QNap 10GB swtiches, and more! We’ll look at specs, features and why I made the choices I did when it comes to hardware.

I’m glad to see Logik Live’s special topic on Flame hardware.

When discussing the hardware ecosystem of Flame, one suggestion that cannot be ignored is the Multiple GPUs support for Flame. Flame currently cannot support multiple GPUs simultaneous for Foreground or Background rendering, which is a significant limitation. At least I think Burn should be able to fully utilize the parallel computing capabilities of multi GPU servers. The construction of ultra high speed data bandwidth between Burn nodes and Flame workstations is also very necessary.

The only hardware innovation happening with Flame would be making Super Burns. But that is up to you, not ADSK,

Thank you for your detailed demonstration. I will take the time to put it into practice..

On the hardware front- has anyone used the streamdeck with the little knobs? Do they or could they work within flame? like controlling a control point on a curve in a mastergrade node?
