Unable to unzip files

Hi,

I have a weird problem when unzipping files on my Synology NAS

I have 2 folders deep, each one inside the other ie/ Volume/folder1/folder2/ and a zip file in folder2. When I double click to unzip I get a MacOs error

If I move the file to folder1 the file unzips correctly.

So it’s some sort of permission issue with the folder but I cannot nail it. I have tried lots of things to correct the permission issue but nothing works.

If you’ve got a Mac on macOS 26.1 (Tahoe) and you’re connected to a Synology NAS, could you try the same test for me?

Thanks in advance

OK I have solved the problem by using a different unzip program. Looks like Apple’s built in Archive Utility is the problem. I’m now using “The Unarchiver” and it’s working

@Jeff What zip extraction program did you use for the test that worked for you?

Interesting. ZIP compatibility used to be a big issue, but haven’t seen it lately much.

I do have copies of WinZip, for OS coverage and finder menu integration. But don’t necessarily recommend them since they’re super heavy handed on the upsell. Almost like a used car dealer.

I just double clicked it on macOS, so I think it’s called Archive Utility app?

Probably an issue with Tahoe

If anyone else out there is using Tahoe with a Synology NAS then let me know if the issue occurs with your system.
