Why can't you publish media as a File Sequence with an XML?

or to put it another way…

Why, with every option other than EDL can you only publish movie files?

seems like a very strange programming decision to me.

same you can also publish just the media, the reconform to the published media then publish just a xml as a workaround …

That’s exactly what I was going to suggest. Normally, when I am doing an XML publish, it’s for my internal color team to use, so exporting media isn’t necessary. On occasions where I have opticals that I haven’t used write nodes for, I’ll do an EDL publish for just that layer so they get the EXR files along with the EDL that has the correct path data. This method has worked well for me in the past.
