Yes, I will be submitting a bug report, but I want to see if anyone else has discovered this:
Export a clip with Export Between Marks, ProRes 24bit PCM audio, with the marks not encompassing the entire clip. Export the same thing with Between Marks off. Bring both clips back in and compare audio. It is not the same. If the marks encompass the entire clip, the audio will match.
I am comparing by putting both tracks together on a single clip, routing them both to tracks 1-2, and flipping the phase on one of the tracks.
I take it back. Bug reporting is way fucked up. I’ll just leave this here. You would think the artificial idiot assistant chat would take me to the place I want to go, rather than just tell me to “locate” the bug report button, or whatever, which seems to be now where. I don’t have time for this bullshit.
Hi Tim,
I am sorry for your experience with the assistant. (No comments).
Just tell it to create a support case and/or connecting to an agent and hopefully, in less than 5 clicks, you will be able to create the support case or schedule a call and we will be able to provide the help you deserve.
Best regards.
I don’t actually need a call. This is not a showstopping bug. I just want to put it on record for someone to look into. And for what it’s worth, “How to report a bug” is a simple instruction. The first 3 options should not be unrelated bugs people have already reported.
For the record, real people at autodesk has been very attentive to this, despite my interactions with the A(rtificial) I(diot.) assistant. I also believe I have figured out what is happening. When exporting between marks that don’t encompass the entire clip, I believe the audio track slips out of sync a a few milliseconds. Nothing to cause alarm, but enough so that when compared to the original track, they don’t cancel one another out when the phase is flipped.
Hi Tim,
Curious if the in point is set at the top of a second or a random frame number ie :00 as opposed to :17
It is set at 01:00:00:00. There is a 2 pop 2 seconds before the in point. I export between marks to remove the 2 pop and 2 seconds of black. Or sometimes slates.
My thinking which could be way off the mark was that at 29.97 and 48k, 1 frame is equal to 1601.601601601* samples. If flame is working in frames, is it just a rounding error when you skip the slate.
Jesus that’s boring!
I’m working at 23.98. But you could be on to something.
