Is there a way of changing the default bkd color of the timeline viewport from grey to other colors? The reason I ask, is it would be a lot easier to identify shots that have black edges when I QC a sequence.
I believe there are shades of grey that you can use. Somewhere in the preferences you can tweak the BG gamma. Obviously the lighter the grey the easier it will be to see errors. Too bright and it is a bit of a strain on your eyes when looking at the screen.
I find that is still need to do a quick QC pass so I use that approach- Blanking Edge detector - #2 by PlaceYourBetts
Also check out id_edgy matchbox if you haven’t updated your logik shaders in a while. It highlights pixels with 0,0,0 RGB so you can see those blank edges.
I have a gap-bfx that I drop on top of a final and scrub through to see black edges. If anyone is interested, I can post an archive of it here.
Try putting a 2d transform on the top layer, scale to 50% and then set repeat mode to repeat last. This will repeat the last pixel colour. When scanning through you’ll see black on the repeat when you get to blanking.
Would love to see it.

Unarchive and drop on a gap at the top of the clip. This is 2024.2.1. I can’t make it go backwards. If you can’t get it to work, it’s really simple to make and if I have time today or tomorrow I’ll do a quick demo.
this!

This is the best way (optional with an black edge detection used before). Because then you are also able to detect borders that are not black, like offline, wrong graphics etc.
