Silly question.
Unfortunately my home office has carpet, I have a pretty large desk, and need to be able to move my chair around easily. I’ve tried a few different mats, none work well.
Is anyone else in the same situation, if so have you found any usable options?
I used to purchase a great heavy-duty chair mat that was from the U.K. but the last one I received cracked within a week. I got my money back and am still on the hunt for a replacement. Some recommend glass chair mats, but I have not researched them.
I have a glass mat at home from Vitraza (not a commercial for them – it just happens that they are literally down the street) and rollerblade wheels on my chair
The floor in my basement office is not perfectly level so when I get up, the chair rolls on its own off the back of the mat…
Just an update. I got my mat and chair wheels today. They work great(for the few hours I’ve used them)
I ended up going with the Anji mountain office chair mat.
I recently inherited my folks vinyl collection, so just added a turntable to my office. It’s great…when a side finishes it forces me to stand up and take a quick stretch break while I flip the disc.
With all this talk of record players and chair mats, has anyone considered holding a record whilst seated, dropping the needle down and spinning on their chair? Would that fix anyone’s issues?
Yeah, that is a bit of a silly idea. Maintaining 33 revolutions per minute would be a tough ask.
Dumb? No way. We sit in front of workstations for a big chunk of our lives. Comfort is important. This question is so far from dumb it needs to stop in a motel for the night before it gets there.
Since we’re derailing a bit anyway, my desk has an electric base so I picked up one of these standing mats.
Really comfortable and does extend my standing hours, which I try do as much as possible. That being said, I do better work sitting on my a$$…go figure.
