We’re getting a flurry of new edits/XMLS that are largely the same shots jumbled up. Usually we get a locked edit and I never worry about this workflow…
Bring new XML onto Sequence Reel > conform tab > update sources sequence = new edit finds all the clips, keeps connected conform, but does NOT have any timelineFX. Instead I go back to the main edit > sync connected segments.
Any trick to have it bring over resizes, BFX, etc???
You can break the connection between the main and the resizes, ( I use the Selected Segments, and Replace On Same Segment options in the connected segment duplicate dialogue) do the same steps with the resizes you did with the main edits, unlink the media in the resizes and relink with the original connected segments. Nothing will work with BFX’s however.
If I understand your situation right, I think you could use the ‘create source segment connection’ option. Look at the scoping options when you do this and it will apply the soft effects to the newly updated sources sequence after you’ve updated with the latest xmls.
