10 mins messing around with higx and nukes colorwheel
I tried my hand at it. My hack, @hildebrandtbernd talked about, depends on motion blurs to get the caustic look. Unfortunately maximum number of 200 samples is not enough to cover the whole logo. I ended up breaking the logo into several pieces and that breaks the continuity and smoothness…
I think, the “effect” defocuses the edges with a caustic pattern. So when the logo rotates on the y-axis, the edges closer to the camera “caustic out”. I tried to replicate that but …meeeh, and the fact the motion blur samples are not enough doesn’t help.
But, with another hack, I text edited the .action file and got the number of moblur samples up to 1200. This allows you to use a single shape to draw the logo.
Take a look at the setup below and hit me up on Discord if you want to learn how it works.

I had started to write the message before I saw the Cinema4D tut. But seems we’re on the same track. Edges of the shape that define a volumetric caustic pattern. Definitely better in a 3D pack…
