Hi all.
Is there a way to extend a 3D track?
I work weeks ago on a shot in which I had to do a lot of cleaning. As it is a drone shot, I 3D tracked it and the track wa surprisingly good. I did all the cleaning with plate and projections and everyone including me was very happy.
Now, I get the Dir Cut. I’ve been told that only the grading has changed and it should fit in the setup… It is indeed the same take, but it’s edited 5 seconds later in the shot. (the shot was already 500 frames log… Grrrr So I have to extend all the tracks. And probably do a new 3D track and pray for it to be as good as the previous etc… Would love so much to extend what’s been done already…

Depends where you did the track. Not in Flame’s tracker that I know of, but you can do it in pftrack. Are you able to gently push back and ask if the director is ok having that shot be a lift from the shipped spot so you don’t have to completely redo it?

I’ll surely have the question asked. And probably, I’ll have to re-3D_Track and reposition all the plates for my projections etc… It won’t be exactly the same as the client shot but I’ll be fine.
It’s just that it’s always annoying to extend a setup, even more if it involves 3D tracking…

If it were me i’d say that i am more than happy to re do the shot but obviously this would have to be re-costed.
If the director is paying for it personally, then i bet they end up using the original.
