Matte/Fill TL export question

I have a 30 minute show on a TL. I have some supers/graphics on tracks 4 & 5 of the TL. I need to export those graphic layers (Prores 4444 w/matte) so that those exports can be dropped into Premier or Resolve TL and of course all the graphics will be there and in place.

I select the two graphics layers, mute the other layers…export a Prores 4444 w/ alpha and I end up with a 30 minute clip w/ an alpha…all looks promising.

However, when i lay back the export to a clean version of the show…where the supers and graphics are within the clip everything works as expected…however, its the time between each of the graphics
in the export that’s the problem…i get black. Which makes sense when i look at the matte and fill of the export.

Yes i can use other blending modes to make it kinda work but I need it to work in the blend mode. It seems like a pretty basic thing and i hope its just me…but if anyone has any insight i’d appreciate it.

yep… pretty frustrating exporting graphics and super from flame.
Try this. add an empty layer with a gap effect (i use color management) and re-export.
It should fix the black in between graphics.

Look at the alpha in your export; what is there where the black fill sections are?

I’ll assume the gap effect is on the same track and between the graphic segments?

Its white…so its keying the black that’s between the graphics in the fill.

Hi Robert,
Not a fix but a workaround would be to supply an edl to go with the export you already have.

It worked so thank you! But yes, frustrating would be accurate. You’d think an “option” could be added to the export that does whatever the gap effect is doing

Glad it worked!
