New MacBook Air with flame

Wondering if anyone here has tried out the new MacBook Air with flame? The current one I have works great for slap comps on set and writing code, and the best part is it’s light.

Just wondering your opinions.

Thanks,
Fegan

Curious to hear too. We need to upgrade my Wife’s i5 Macbook Pro, but the Air is such a thinner form factor than the new Pro. She just needs it for heavy Illustrator projects.

RAM will be the issue with Flame. You’ll run out of shared RAM pretty quick. 24GB is the maximum I believe and shared between CPU & GPU that’s not much. I’m sure Flame would run but anything beyond basic tasks could end up problematic. The minimum requirement is 32GB on the system requirements and at least 64GB is recommended.

I have an M2 with 8GB of RAM and you can do VERY basic stuff. I guess the M3 is the same case but faster…

This is a fact! With a mac m3 max 36gb you can do up to kindda medium setups, nothing big. I’m really impressed with m3 max, it is quite fast, but once vram is filled, which gets so quickly, it takes ages. I think these 36gb ram laptops is a MINIMUM!

I wouldn’t.

Even my Mac Studio with 64gb of ram feels very minimum

Hey guys,
I got my MacBook Air a week and a half ago. It’s a M3 all spec’d out. I’m LOVING IT!

I’ve done some relatively small comps on it with no problems, and it’s really done a great job of all the other small tasks I used to use my old intel MacBook Air for.

I’ll keep you guys updated when I actually have some heavy comps.
