Open Sequence Order 2025

A small but somewhat frustrating update in 2025 is the random order in how open sequences appear in the timeline. I have always opened sequences based on their duration 60,30,15,10 etc. and have worked that way for many years. In 2025 I right click and open sequences in the order in which I want the them to appear but it re-orders and shuffles them around in the timeline. I can’t work out if it’s doing it in alphabetical order, it’s def not duration.

Has anyone else noticed this and has a work around?

Is there a new setting that I am missing?? There is a button in prefs that is use localised sort order but changing the sorting order in the media tab with this option on has no effect on the timeline order… or am i missing something?

Anyone know why this has changed? Was it a requested addition?

For those interested, in 2025.2 Update we have added an option named Use Media Panel Order / Use Custom Order setting located in Preferences → User → Timeline → Open Sequences. This allows you to choose between the legacy behaviour and the one introduced in the 2025 version.
