Renaming a project while restoring an archive via the Flame interface

Hello,

archived a project some times ago with ‘./flame_archive -e- P project1’.

I haven’t used Flame in a while and need to update from 2021.2 to 2026. To avoid risking the original project, I’d like to “play around” with a cloned copy instead.

Can I rename a Flame project during the restoration of a Flame Archive in the GUI?

Thank you!

PS:
Currently, the project is inactive due to the “license stop” from fxphd

No, I don’t believe you can rename a project from an archive.

However, when you restore from an archive, the archive is not changed.

You can “play around” all you like and the original archive will remain unchanged.

Thank you for the feedback! Does that mean two “identical” projects cannot be active in parallel in Flame? One for testing purposes and the other as the actual productive project ?

In Flame 2026, when you restore a Project Archive you are presented with this window, which includes the possibility to give a new name to the restored project.

I want to know how Flame can rename an existing project, or why Flame has been unable to rename a project ?

You can start your journey here.
