So sad to hear this. Heartbreaking.
I wanted to thank everyone who joined in today’s Zoom remembering Ivar Beer. Here’s a link to a recording of the stream

Damn 2020! What a year, how many good people has it taken way too early. RIP Ivar, totally shocked! Didn’t know the man that well, but for someone to do what they did with matchbox and give out it freely, what a saint!
a true great
Man Ivar was the best. Im glad we got to visit with him the last time he was in LA. Is there anyone in the community who can pickup where Ivar left off and continue his matchbox legacy?
So, I JUST found out, as I’ve been keeping off social media for my sanity. I’m so shocked & heartbroken.
Though I never met him, I’d always had pleasant interactions with him via social media. He was extremely knowledgeable but never arrogant about it, & fun fact: he & I shared a birthday.
He will be sorely missed. (Andy, thanx for setting up the Go Fund Me!)
Hi Jesse. The short answer is yes. @ivar was a large part of a small but vibrant community. We have a thread going here to talk about this very thing. I am very interested in hearing your thoughts.
He was a legend. And the fact that his work remains alive in well in so much of our work across the globe gives me some comfort.

Hi everyone,
I received a letter from Ivar’s parents. In it were a thank you card and some photos. Photos below, and here is a translation of the card:
Dear Mr. Andy Milkis,
Thank you very much for your contribution and the aristocratic words on the death of our sons, Ivar. My husband and I were very pleased about the great value meeting that he had from so many people. It gives us consolation for the soul so that we can endure the incomprehensible. Our son Sven and his family are also our great support and consolation in these difficult times. Thank you very much about the willingness to donate and the donation for Ivar. The amount of money will be used for the tombstone, so that the commemoration will also be honored. Many thanks for the memory of you with Ivar! In the picture you can see Ivar with his first computer no everything started! Thank you very much for your lines, we cry to you and your family for the year 2021 good luck, health and God’s blessing.
Kind regards,
Reinhold and Urusla Beer
