Scopes - Can I see more values?

When I’m looking at the Scopes → Waveforms > PQ view… I only see values and lines thresholds as 0 - 0.1 - 1 - 10 - 100 - 1000 - 10000. How can I tell how many nits my media is when the measurement breadth is so vague? Basically is there a way to display all the values between 100 and 1000 rather than just having thresholds of 100 and 1000?
Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately you can’t can’t add more ticks to the graticule in PQ, and because it’s exponential, it’s very difficult to read accurate nit values.

When measuring text luminance in PQ there is a workaround, assuming you are working in an environment of peak 1000 nits. Switch the broadcast and scopes output (in Prefs > Colour Mgmt), and the broadcast monitor itself, to HLG 1000 nits, and the scopes setting from “PQ” to “Video”. You’re now monitoring everything in HLG, but colour-wise it will look pretty much identical to PQ. The wfm now shows percentages, not nits.

Diffuse or ‘graphics’ white is the same recommmended value in both PQ and HLG: 203 nits, or 75% in HLG. So you can sit your text at 75% on the wfm in HLG, and it will be at 203 nits in PQ.

Once you’re happy, switch back to PQ monitoring everywhere.
