So you think AI isn't going to take your job?

or perhaps EtherNOT…

love the shot of him guzzling from the bottle with no hands on the wheel.

Well, and beyond that and all the other technical flaws, it’s just pretty hard to do any actual narrative storytelling when it’s 100% unclear if there even is a main character that we’re following because I have no idea if this is supposed to be the same person

@BrittCiampa -

There’s no AI in SUCCESS,
but it’s at the center of every FAIL.

I’d be selling t-shirts if I knew how.

Hey Siri, how do I sell t-shirts?

I have yet to see an AI production that shows a glimmer of creativity. But does it matter?
I screenshotted this exchange in the Location Sound subreddit a few weeks ago. I had never heard of “vertical production” (except… uh… ) but this sounds absolutely awful. Professional craftspeople forced to slash their rates in terrible conditions to make garbage creative spewed out by AI. Some people think that AI is going to take out the busy work of our craft and allow us to be creative. I fear the opposite, all creative decisions made by machine and we just become the drudge workers that make it happen.
(Thanks for coming to my Wendy’s Drive Thru)

For your t-shirts…

sure but remember where we were with video generation a year ago, and image generation 2 years ago. It will all be solved.

Now the one thing I haven’t seen yet, is lip sync dialogue.

@ALan - i just read that this morning - I’ll try to dig it out.

:eyes:

HA HA HA HA HAHA!!
That made me laugh my ass off.

But that is more deep fake than AI generative video though.

I have not yet seen a full AI generated video with lip sync yet.

@ALan - this isn’t the thing i read this morning but Hedra.

Will it stand up to floating point 8k or 16k?

Probably not.

Will the grain be the organic pink rainbow snowflake Himalayan salt of all sodium chlorides?

Probably not.

Does it matter when you’re watching it on the bus while commuting to your free-labor “job” in alabama?

Probably not.

Does it matter during the first week of November?

Most likely.

not bad. it is a start.

How unexpected: OpenAI rates to increase up to 100x.

In fairness, that is not the price of the existing ChatGPT subscription but upcoming new products like Strawberry.

However the premise is there. For AI to survive they have to charge a pretty penny, and I’m not sure the consumers and businesses are prepared or see enough value.

Kind of the streamers. You want to make 600 scripted show and give them away for pennies on the dollar. Sure, I’ll watch a few extra ones. But once they changed price to reflect cost, suddenly we’re back to how cable was in 2012.

This is early days on a little lip-sync test I’m working on:

Quite fun, will flesh it out in to a full vid, and tidy it up. So for example the black levels in her mouth are off but that can be fixed. Will run loads of passes with different source images and movements and pick the moments the lip-sync gels best.

Edit to add. Cook_VHS seems to be broken in 2025.1 :slightly_frowning_face:
Crok_VFS is great for stuff like this, hopefully we can get it fixed. Sorry I forgot who I should flag it up with?

And just like that.

Genuinely shocked there wasn’t a glossy Elon in that video.
