A little bit out of the main theme: by any chance is anyone using Dropbox with Rocky Linux?
I don’t think so. I think you’re going to have to use a web browser for it.
If you find a solution please let us know!
Well, there is a way to install it
But it only lets you upload files, you can’t see the files already there…
Ah. Bummer!
I miss my Mac
I got this going today on 8.5 using flatpak. Literally two commands a reboot and installed via the gui. Couldn’t have been easier…
Working fine here following official instructions.
Using headless method. Install - Dropbox
Download works fine
For sure, and thanks for confirming—for me at least, syncing is only part of it and not the whole enchilada. The ease of controlling actions with a gui as opposed to their python script for everyday operation is my preference… but to each their own.
I bet someone Py-savvy could do something quite interesting with those controls—essentially integrating renders or postings directly into Dropbox.
There is a gui:
I am not really a DB power user. Not sure what I am missing. I have been think in switching to it from Frame.io with their Replay app… (I like it support subtitles) still investigating the options.
Oh rad! I have to check it out again then…
Wait, did Dropbox get better for Rocky Linux? The API for FileZillaPro is my only way. Tried the DB Linux setup a while back and it was missing a lot of functionality.
Yeah, same here. I stopped using it on my Linux box. Maybe it’s worth a second chance
Do you have a Synology? I have a synology monted on my Linux machines and use Dropbox via Synology cloud sync to make backups of setups.
Will try Sinology. But to be honest thinking about installing “something else” in Linux makes me very anxious. Although having DropBox on my machine…
Dis you use Ubuntu or Fedora for Rocky?
Just to be clear, you don’t have to install anything on Linux for this. All the Dropbox stuff is done on the synology via their integration.
Oh! Headless
Hey milanesa, how do you enable the dropbox and discord?
Yeah. Basically ruining this:
cd ~ && wget -O - "https://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64" | tar xzf -
~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd
Not sure exactly what you mean, but guessing you are talking about the App Tray Icons on top right of my desktop. I believe is part of the Gnome extensions.
You can enable it with the Tweaks App from the Accessories menu.
If its not there you can grab it form the Gnomes Extensions site:
