Flame on M4 Max MacBook Pro

For curiosity, did you tick the box that said bring across system preferences when you restored from a Time Machine back up?

I restored over Thunderbolt from the old machine. I don’t remember that box. I think I clicked on everything when the asked about Documents, Apps, and whatever.

Does anybody have a link to the latest benchmarks?

Curious case. Is your old machine still up and running on the same network?

If so the problem could have been a hostname conflict in the shared library. Two versions of same hostname with different ip addresses.

For most other Mac apps this is harmless, but Flame being Enterprise Linux by inheritance may get confused.

Though an error message may have helped. You could file a ticket so they can fix and save others the frustration.

Sorry Sam to hear you had a bad installation experience on your new MBP.

Next time Flame does not start, just launch the Service Monitor application (part of Flame installation), visit the Diagnostics tab and then run Errors / Warnings last day. This will print the various issues and often help figure out the root cause.

Please keep us updated.

Hey @Slabri, I finally got it to work, after changing the host name to something different than the old machine I migrated from. A small, but mildly frustrating bump in the road. Sorry for bitching.
