Flame-On-Mac - Dual/Tri-Monitor issues

Hi everyone,

I am struggling with an unstable setup with my flame screens. I have 3 monitors connected vis USB-C:

  1. LEFT = Broadcast
  2. CENTER = FLAME GUI
  3. RIGHT = Emails, Zoom, Web etc.

It’s been working great and all of a sudden when turn on my broadcast monitor in my Flame Prefs it takes over my CENTRE monitor right over the Flame GUI.

For anyone experiencing the same the workaround is annoying and is as follows:

  1. CTL-Click Flame app in Dock
  2. Select “Desktop 2” (numbering may be different on your Mac)
  3. 3-Finger swipe up on Desktop 2 to reveal Flame GUI
  4. Drag Flame GUI Back to Desktop 1
  5. Now you have Flame GUI on Desktop 01 and Broadcast on Desktop 2

This took me ages to figure out and it is awful. Am I missing a setting somewhere that deals with this because on Mac Flame seems to get very upset every time I reboot or launch and of course it always happens right before a remote client session.

I read something about some Environment Configs but none of that helped at all.

Has anyone experienced the same - do we have a solve?

Thanks Hive Minds!!

Dan

One thing to check on Mac. There’s a setting in Mission control whether each monitor is it’s own space or a shared space. This has impact on how apps that use multiple screens act.

This has moved around over various OS releases, in Ventura it’s here:

Generally for Flame you want this to be on I believe.

I manually unplug the email monitor before i start flame and then plug it back in

i use a Blackmagic Ultrastudio Monitor 3g box to feed the broadcast monitor. Stops any desktop multi-screen issues from happening.
