I purchased a flame machine but being semi-ghosted by the engineer who's building it

If anyone has any advice, I’d love your feedback.

The engineer is someone I trust & they’ve been helping me for years.

I paid them with months of working time for the machine back in November.

I’ve been trying to give them space because I know it’s hard to obtain certain parts due to shortages but I’ve been asking for updates & I haven’t heard anything for ~25 days.

It’s starting to seriously affect my well-being/sleep/work/etc.
I have a pit in my stomach 24/7 & feel like I’ve been scammed out of my savings.
I was so excited to re-invest into myself.

I’m not upset with them, I just wanna know what’s going on.

Idk if anyone else has been in this situation before, I could use some advice.

Hi Gabe,

I’m sorry to hear this. At this point, my advice is that you need to do what’s best for you. It’s business, not personal. Ghosting you for 25 days is insanely unprofessional. Maybe reach out to a lawyer, or at the very least let this engineer know that you have reached the point where you want your money back, and give him a deadline to refund you or you will be forced to seek remediation. Just make sure that you have documented everything.

Best of luck,

Andy

But make sure he hasn’t spent the last 3 weeks in an ICU . . . I don’t mean this as a joke.
