Multi language clip versions: with "Connected Segments"?

Hello

I created an animated slideshow from single shots, setting a still duration (00:00:02+08) during the import in MediaHub. Up until now, it has been a ‘Timeline-only’ project because I was hesitant to learn node-based compositing using Batch.

At the moment the following “effects” are implemented:

.

Yet to implement:

  • differents TL tracks for subtitles in different languages (exported from Flame as *.srt (to be imported into YT )

  • replacing text animations (made with Text TL FX) with the new Type Tool (Cascade effects)

  • An external MP4 animation without audio may potentially be added as well

  • audio track for sound

.

Question:

Are ‘Connected Segments’ the best approach, or are there more suitable alternatives for this task?( Render out multiple languages with subtitles on Export - #2 by Sonste )

Thank you very much!

.

PS:
I started this project as an fxphd student some years ago, while the fxphd license was still available, and I will soon install Flame 2027 to resume it

Connected segments are used for linking segments that have properties in common with one another. The base connection is the media, so that if you have many timelines that contain common media, when you change one, it changes them all. This also works for gap effects, including type. In a case where the picture is common, but the type is different, connected segments should be applied footage, but each type layer would stand alone. Connected segments can get complicated, and misuse can lead to disaster, so it’s important to learn the pitfalls and start simple by only using it for footage.
