Small annoyances - switch multiple geos to wireframe

hi hi

when i bring in a 3D match move camera i’ll also bring in the proxy geo to make sure it all lines up with the scene and the camera. i dont consolidate the geo because i like to be able to turn on/off specific things to avoid confusion so that means i usually have several geo nodes in my action schematic. and i like for those gems to all be set to wireframe. i cannot CTRL + drag select the geos and switch them all to wireframe from solid. They certainly are all selected but toggling the button with them selected does not change all of them, only the highlighted one.

dont want to have to dumpster dive thru other menus like node settings to turn everything to wireframe as i usually like to have something solid eventually to project onto… anyone else have a clever way to turn a bunch of selected geo nodes to wireframe? flame 2025.2

TIA

Hello Tim!

Can you mimic link them all and then switch one to wireframe? (I would test this myself but, for silly reasons, cannot at the moment)

This works @kirk and it’s what I do. But if you got a ton of geo it’s still real annoying to have to go through and mimic link them all. I wish I could marquis select and right click to mimic link multiple surfaces/geo. Heck maybe you can now? Would maybe also be useful to specify on import that you want to bring the geo in as set to wireframe already. Then you can do your lineup checks, hide what you’re not gonna use, and move on from there with the comping

You can hold ctrl-w (?) and kiss other nodes to mimic link. Or alt-q. One of those combos.

Hmm, that’s no working for me. The second I’m in mimic link it only draws out from there, no meta key or anything let’s me move an actual surface

Updated and/or side request: a way to mimic links bunch of nodes at once vs drawing A to B, A to C, A to D.

Edit: ignore this and see Sinan’s post directly below.

Ok. Shift-w

That’s awesome, very helpful, thank you Sinan! For anyone giving it a go, have the surface selected and clicked down already as if you’re about to move it and THEN hold down shift-w and swipe across all the stuff you need to mimic link at lightning speed! Thank you again Sinan!

@TimC That’s what I did on the SAP job way back at Suspect. it should still work…

brilliant. thanks @Sinan and everyone. my life is much less annoying today!

This also works in batch. For mux nodes, comp nodes, timewarps, etc. when you have multiple pipes that need to be synched.

I always wanted to be able to mimic-link over multiple viewports.

e.g:

viewport 1->action1:schematic
viewport 2->action2:schematic

link camera to camera…

Could be handy but might require a reworking of the whole selected node/result view workflow. Which action is selected to be viewed as result?

It’s a non trivial concept.
That doesn’t prevent me from having wanted it.
I don’t expect it to materialize.
